In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 630 Gigabyte 2GB Edition are significantly better than the Nvidia Quadro FX 1800.

The GT 630 was released less than a year after the Quadro FX 1800, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The GT 630 has 1280 MB more video memory than the Quadro FX 1800, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the Quadro FX 1800 has superior memory performance.

The Quadro FX 1800 has 12.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GT 630, which means that the memory performance of the Quadro FX 1800 is slightly better than the GT 630.

The GeForce GT 630 Gigabyte 2GB Edition has 96 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro FX 1800 has 64. However, the actual shader performance of the GT 630 is 156 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro FX 1800 is 35. The GT 630 having 121 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GT 630 delivers a marginally smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Quadro FX 1800.

The GeForce GT 630 Gigabyte 2GB Edition requires 65 Watts to run and the Quadro FX 1800 requires 59 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 350 Watts for the GT 630 and a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the Quadro FX 1800. The GT 630 requires 6 Watts more than the Quadro FX 1800 to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GT 630 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the Quadro FX 1800.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GT 630 Gigabyte 2GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's Middle-Class GeForce GT 630, created by Gigabyte.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit Remains the Same.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock runs at 800MHz and the Frame Buffer was raised to 2GB. This is a gimmick and in no way benefits the GPU.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System has been replaced by Gigabyte's custom-designed 80 mm cooler, with air flow optimized cover and aluminum base. The cooler can dissipate heat effectively from the GPU while keeping the fan at lower speed and noise.

Performance
Without Any Overclock Out of The Box, GeForce GT 630 Gigabyte 2GB Edition is as fast as the reference GeForce GT 630.
Architected for leading-edge manufacturing and design companies, this next generation solution within the most requested mid-range professional graphics family, provides a balanced price and performance combination. Featuring NVIDIA® CUDA™ parallel computing architecture, 30-bit color fidelity, and automatic configuration of application display settings for optimal performance, the Quadro FX 1800 sets the standard for power efficiency while delivering a rich user experience.
