In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 8850M are massively better than the Nvidia NVS 2100M.
The Radeon HD 8850M was released over three years more recently than the NVS 2100M, and so the Radeon HD 8850M is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the NVS 2100M when running the latest games.
The Radeon HD 8850M has 1536 MB more video memory than the NVS 2100M, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the Radeon HD 8850M also has superior memory performance overall.
The Radeon HD 8850M has 19.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the NVS 2100M, which means that the memory performance of the Radeon HD 8850M is slightly better than the NVS 2100M.
The Radeon HD 8850M has 640 Shader Processing Units and the NVS 2100M has 16. However, the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD 8850M is 496 and the actual shader performance of the NVS 2100M is 9. The Radeon HD 8850M having 487 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Radeon HD 8850M delivers a significantly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the NVS 2100M.
The Radeon HD 8850M transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the NVS 2100M. This means that the Radeon HD 8850M is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the NVS 2100M.
The Radeon HD 8850M requires 45 Watts to run and the NVS 2100M requires 14 Watts. The Radeon HD 8850M requires 31 Watts more than the NVS 2100M to run. The difference is significant enough that the Radeon HD 8850M may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the NVS 2100M.

Mini Review | Overview Radeon HD 8850M is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the Second Revision of the GCN Architecture. Architecture The GCN 1.1 Release adds support for AMD's TrueAudio Technology which does calculations of audio effects "better" than the CPU and further improves the Powertune Technology. GPU It equips a GPU codenamed Venus PRO which has 10 Compute Units activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit Initially Operates at 625MHz and goes up to 775MHz, in Turbo Mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The memory clock operates at 1000MHz. Features DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Crossfire, PowerTune Technology, Eyefinity, App Acceleration, HD3D, ZeroCore Power and other technologies. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 45W, it is suited for 17" or larger laptops. Performance Gaming benchmarks put its performance somewhat above NVIDIA's GeForce GT 750M. System Suggestions We recommend a Decent Processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with Radeon HD 8850M. | NVS 2100M is an entry-level business card with support for special drivers that are certified for professional applications like Microsoft Office Suite, Hummingbird Exceed, Lotus Notes, etc. It's part of the NVS Mobile Series released by NVIDIA, in 2010/2011. Though business cards have no driver support for games, some of them deliver astonishing performance (e.g. Quadro 6000, Tesla C2075). NVS 2100M does support DirectX 10.1 but the limited Memory Bus and all the rest put together result in poor gaming performance. Still, it should be enough to handle demanding games like, Crysis 2, on the lowest settings possible but games like Metro 2033 are probably unplayable at the lowest settings. |
