In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 4730 PowerColor PCS Edition are very slightly better than the AMD Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition.

The HD 6670 has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 4730, but the HD 4730 has 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 6670. As a result, the HD 4730 exhibits a 3.2 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the HD 6670. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The HD 6670 has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 4730 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the HD 6670 providing 0.8 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The HD 6670 was released over a year more recently than the HD 4730, and so the HD 6670 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the HD 4730.

The HD 6670 has 1536 MB more video memory than the HD 4730, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the HD 4730 has superior memory performance.

The HD 4730 has 36.3 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 6670, which means that the memory performance of the HD 4730 is noticeably better than the HD 6670.

The Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition has 480 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 4730 PowerColor PCS Edition has 640. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 6670 is 192 and the actual shader performance of the HD 4730 is 291. The HD 4730 having 99 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD 4730 delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 6670.

The HD 6670 transistor size technology is 15 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 4730. This means that the HD 6670 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 4730. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the HD 6670 should consume less power than the HD 4730.

The Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition requires 66 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon HD 4730 PowerColor PCS Edition. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the HD 6670 and a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the HD 4730. The HD 4730 has been recommended a PSU with 50 Watts more than the HD 6670. The difference is significant enough that the HD 4730 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD 6670.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition is a special edition of AMD's fast-middle-class Radeon HD 6670 v2, created by MSI.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit runs at the same speed.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock runs at 667MHz and the Frame Buffer was raised to 2GB. This is a gimmick and in no way benefits the GPU.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System remains the same.

Without Overclocking Out of The Box, Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition is as fast as the reference Radeon HD 6670 v2.
Radeon HD 4730 PowerColor PCS Edition is a special edition of Radeon HD 4730 that features a new cooling system and no overclocking out of the box.
In the end, the performance is worse than the Radeon HD 4730 as there are two variants of this card whereas one has a core-clock of 700MHz and another of 750MHz and the one we currently offers is the latter.
