In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition are massively better than the AMD Radeon HD 6450 Sapphire OC 512MB Edition.

The GTX 550 Ti has a 220 MHz higher core clock speed and 24 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 6450. This results in the GTX 550 Ti providing 25 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 550 Ti has a 220 MHz higher core clock speed and 20 more Render Output Units than the HD 6450. This results in the GTX 550 Ti providing 20.3 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 550 Ti was released less than a year after the HD 6450, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The GTX 550 Ti has 512 MB more video memory than the HD 6450, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 550 Ti also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 550 Ti has 72.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 6450, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 550 Ti is much better than the HD 6450.

The Radeon HD 6450 Sapphire OC 512MB Edition has 160 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition has 192. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 6450 is 60 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 550 Ti is 372. The GTX 550 Ti having 312 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 550 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 6450.

The Radeon HD 6450 Sapphire OC 512MB Edition requires 18 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the HD 6450 and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 550 Ti. The GTX 550 Ti has been recommended a PSU with 100 Watts more than the HD 6450. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 550 Ti may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD 6450.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock and the Frame Buffer both remain the same.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System remains the same.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate a 11% performance over the reference Radeon HD 6450.
GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition is a special edition of the upper-middle-class GeForce GTX 550 Ti. See the standard edition's page for more information.
The new features include an increase in the clock from 900MHz to 970MHz and a new cooling system.
Benchmarks indicate a 4.5% performance boost when compared to the reference card..
Some modern demanding games will run at the highest settings using a 1080p resolution but the largest part will have to be played with a 720p resolution to be played optimally.
This Graphics Card needs to be paired with a decent Quad Core CPU.
