In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro FX 5600 are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT.

The GeForce 9500 GT was released over a year more recently than the Quadro FX 5600, and so the GeForce 9500 GT is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the Quadro FX 5600.

The Quadro FX 5600 has 1024 MB more video memory than the GeForce 9500 GT, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the Quadro FX 5600 also has superior memory performance overall.

The Quadro FX 5600 has 51.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce 9500 GT, which means that the memory performance of the Quadro FX 5600 is much better than the GeForce 9500 GT.

The GeForce 9500 GT has 32 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro FX 5600 has 128. However, the actual shader performance of the GeForce 9500 GT is 18 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro FX 5600 is 77. The Quadro FX 5600 having 59 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Quadro FX 5600 delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce 9500 GT.

The GeForce 9500 GT transistor size technology is 35 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Quadro FX 5600. This means that the GeForce 9500 GT is expected to run much cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Quadro FX 5600.

The GeForce 9500 GT requires 50 Watts to run and the Quadro FX 5600 requires 171 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 350 Watts for the GeForce 9500 GT and a PSU with at least 750 Watts for the Quadro FX 5600. The Quadro FX 5600 requires 121 Watts more than the GeForce 9500 GT to run. The difference is significant enough that the Quadro FX 5600 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GeForce 9500 GT.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce 9500 GT is a Middle-Class Graphics Card based on the First Revision of the Tesla Architecture.

Tesla was NVIDIA's First Unified Shader Architecture.

It equips a GPU Codenamed G96C which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 32 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 550MHz.

The GPU accesses a 512MB frame buffer of GDDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 800MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 50W, it requires at least a 350W PSU and it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for Power meaning no extra connectors are required.

Gaming benchmarks put its performance on average with GeForce 8600 GTS, meaning it is much faster than Radeon HD 3650.
A revolutionary unified architecture, NVIDIA Quadro® FX 5600 and 4600 graphics boards deliver optimized application performance. Combining the industry's most advanced feature set, including largest frame buffers, with a C programming environment, Quadro solutions solve the most complex problems. The reference standard for Shader Model 4.0, Quadro FX 5600 and 4600 enables next generation applications with unprecedented image quality.
