In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Palit StormX OC 1GB Edition are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 EVGA FTW 1GB Edition.

The GTX 750 has a 155 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the GTS 450. This results in the GTX 750 providing 4.9 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 750 has a 155 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTS 450 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 750 providing 2.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 750 was released over three years more recently than the GTS 450, and so the GTX 750 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GTS 450 when running the latest games.

The GeForce GTS 450 EVGA FTW 1GB Edition and the GeForce GTX 750 Palit StormX OC 1GB Edition have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The GTX 750 has 15.9 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTS 450, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 750 is slightly better than the GTS 450.

The GeForce GTS 450 EVGA FTW 1GB Edition has 192 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 750 Palit StormX OC 1GB Edition has 512. However, the actual shader performance of the GTS 450 is 357 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 750 is 804. The GTX 750 having 447 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 750 delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTS 450.

The GTX 750 transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTS 450. This means that the GTX 750 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTS 450.

The GeForce GTS 450 EVGA FTW 1GB Edition requires 107 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 750 Palit StormX OC 1GB Edition requires 55 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTS 450 and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 750. The GTS 450 requires 52 Watts more than the GTX 750 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTS 450 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 750.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GTS 450 EVGA FTW 1GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's fast-middle-class GeForce GTS 450, created by EVGA.

Overclock Out of The Box
The Central Unit is now of 930MHz, instead of 783MHz while the Operating Memory Clock was increased to 1026MHz.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System was replaced by EVGA's Single Fan Solution which means the Graphics Card runs cooler under load.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate a 14% performance boost over the reference GeForce GTS 450.
GeForce GTX 750 Palit StormX OC 1GB Edition is a special edition of the fast-middle-class GeForce GTX 750.
This edition comes with a custom cooling cooling solution which by itself will allow a slight performance boost, as GeForce GTX 750 benefits from the GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
Furthermore, it comes overclocked out of the box in the central unit that was raised from 1020MHz to 1085MHz, while the Turbo Boost is now of 1163MHz, instead of 1085MHz. The operating memory clock was increased to 1275MHz.
Further overclocking can be achieved easily, as the GPU has great OC potential.
Benchmarks indicate its performance is around 6% better than the reference NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 and thus this card is slightly faster than Radeon R7 260X.
