In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 430 MSI Low Profile Dual Fan OC 1GB Edition are marginally better than the AMD Radeon HD 8670D.

The Radeon HD 8670D has a 59 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the GT 430. This results in the Radeon HD 8670D providing 7.7 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The Radeon HD 8670D has a 59 MHz higher core clock speed and 4 more Render Output Units than the GT 430. This results in the Radeon HD 8670D providing 3.7 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The Radeon HD 8670D was released over a year more recently than the GT 430, and so the Radeon HD 8670D is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GT 430.

The GT 430 has 1024 MB video memory, but the Radeon HD 8670D does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The GeForce GT 430 MSI Low Profile Dual Fan OC 1GB Edition has 96 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 8670D has 384. However, the actual shader performance of the GT 430 is 151 and the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD 8670D is 211. The Radeon HD 8670D having 60 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Radeon HD 8670D delivers a marginally smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GT 430.

The Radeon HD 8670D transistor size technology is 8 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GT 430. This means that the Radeon HD 8670D is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GT 430. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the Radeon HD 8670D should consume less power than the GT 430.

The GeForce GT 430 MSI Low Profile Dual Fan OC 1GB Edition requires 49 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 8670D requires 100 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GT 430. The Radeon HD 8670D requires 51 Watts more than the GT 430 to run. The difference is significant enough that the Radeon HD 8670D may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GT 430.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GT 430 MSI Low Profile Dual Fan OC 1GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's middle-class GeForce GT 430, created by MSI.

Overclock Out of The Box
The Central Unit is now of 785MHz, instead of 700MHz while the Operating Memory Clock is now of 1000MHz.

Cooling Solution
The reference Cooling System has been replaced by MSI's Dual Fan Cooling System.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate a 6% performance boost over the reference GeForce GT 430.
Radeon HD 8670D is an embedded Graphics Card on the high-end Richland APUs A10-6700 and A10-6800K.
They offer 384 Shader Processing Units, 24 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The memory interface depends on whether or not the system's RAM is dual channelled.
While the central unit runs at 844MHz, since the GFX doesn't have dedicated memory, the bandwidth will depend on the system ram speed which can be up to 2133MHz (the max speed supported by the CPU). Therefore, the max operating memory clock is 1067MHz.
Its performance is quite superior to Intel HD 4600 but only very slightly better than previous Radeon HD 7660D.
