In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 6570 v2 XFX Silent 1GB Edition are marginally better than the AMD Radeon HD 3850 AGP.

The HD 3850 has a 18 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 6570, but the HD 6570 has 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 3850. As a result, the HD 6570 exhibits a 4.9 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the HD 3850. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The HD 3850 has a 18 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Render Output Units than the HD 6570. This results in the HD 3850 providing 5.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The HD 6570 was released over three years more recently than the HD 3850, and so the HD 6570 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the HD 3850 when running the latest games.

The HD 6570 has 512 MB more video memory than the HD 3850, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the HD 3850 has superior memory performance.

The HD 3850 has 32.3 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 6570, which means that the memory performance of the HD 3850 is noticeably better than the HD 6570.

The Radeon HD 6570 v2 XFX Silent 1GB Edition has 480 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 3850 AGP has 320. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 6570 is 156 and the actual shader performance of the HD 3850 is 214. The HD 3850 having 58 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD 3850 delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 6570.

The HD 6570 transistor size technology is 15 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 3850. This means that the HD 6570 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 3850. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the HD 6570 should consume less power than the HD 3850.

The Radeon HD 6570 v2 XFX Silent 1GB Edition requires 44 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 3850 AGP requires 75 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the HD 6570 and a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the HD 3850. The HD 3850 requires 31 Watts more than the HD 6570 to run. The difference is significant enough that the HD 3850 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD 6570.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Radeon HD 6570 v2 XFX Silent 1GB Edition is a special edition of AMD's middle-class Radeon HD 6570, created by XFX.

Overclock Out of The Box
The Clock Frequencies of both Central Unit and Operating Memory Clock Remain the Same.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System was replaced by XFX's Silent Passive Cooling System.

Without Overclocking Out of The Box, Radeon HD 6570 v2 XFX Silent 1GB Edition is as fast as the reference Radeon HD 6570 v2.
Radeon HD 3850 AGP is a variant of the high-end Radeon HD 3850 based on the 55nm, second unified shader architecture, R600. Check its page to know more about its Core.
Compared to Radeon HD 3850, it features twice as much video memory and an AGP 8X Bus Interface. Benchmarks indicate the double sized frame buffer benefits this GPU largely and so its performance is up to 8% better than the reference Radeon HD 3850.
Today's modern games should run fluently at medium settings but with modest resolutions. DirectX 11 games aren't supported.
