In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon X1950 XT are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 730 v3 Gigabyte 2GB Edition.

The GT 730 was released over three years more recently than the Radeon X1950 XT, and so the GT 730 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the Radeon X1950 XT when running the latest games.

The GT 730 has 1536 MB more video memory than the Radeon X1950 XT, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the Radeon X1950 XT has superior memory performance.

The Radeon X1950 XT has 28.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GT 730, which means that the memory performance of the Radeon X1950 XT is slightly better than the GT 730.

The GeForce GT 730 v3 Gigabyte 2GB Edition has 96 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon X1950 XT has 48. However, the actual shader performance of the GT 730 is 134 and the actual shader performance of the Radeon X1950 XT is 20. The GT 730 having 114 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the Radeon X1950 XT performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The GeForce GT 730 v3 Gigabyte 2GB Edition requires 49 Watts to run and the Radeon X1950 XT requires 96 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GT 730. The Radeon X1950 XT requires 47 Watts more than the GT 730 to run. The difference is significant enough that the Radeon X1950 XT may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GT 730.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GT 730 v3 Gigabyte 2GB Edition is a special edition of the middle-class GeForce GT 730 v3.

This Edition comes with a special cooling solution which keeps the GPU cooler under load and no overclock out of the box.

Performance-wise, it's as fast as the reference GeForce GT 730 v3.
Radeon X1950 XT is a high-end GPU based on the 80nm variant of the R500 architecture.
It's based on the R580+ Core and offers 48 Pixel Shaders, 16 TMUs and 16 ROPs, on a 256-bit of standard GDDR3. The central unit runs at 625MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 900MHz.
Its therefore a slightly underclocked Radeon X1900 XTX that's slightly slower and heats less, due to the small manufacturing process.
Most of today's games might be playable at medium settings although the low preset will have to suffice on some. As it's not based on a Shader-Unified architecture, both DirectX 10 & 11 games aren't supported.
