In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 730 v3 Gigabyte 2GB Edition are significantly better than the Intel HD i3 3220.
The GT 730 was released over a year more recently than the HD i3 3220, and so the GT 730 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the HD i3 3220.
The GT 730 has 2048 MB video memory, but the HD i3 3220 does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.
The GeForce GT 730 v3 Gigabyte 2GB Edition has 96 Shader Processing Units and the HD i3 3220 has 6. However, the actual shader performance of the GT 730 is 134 and the actual shader performance of the HD i3 3220 is 19. The GT 730 having 115 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GT 730 delivers a marginally smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD i3 3220.
The GeForce GT 730 v3 Gigabyte 2GB Edition requires 49 Watts to run and the HD i3 3220 requires 8 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GT 730 and a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the HD i3 3220. The GT 730 requires 41 Watts more than the HD i3 3220 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GT 730 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD i3 3220.

Mini Review | GeForce GT 730 v3 Gigabyte 2GB Edition is a special edition of the middle-class GeForce GT 730 v3. This Edition comes with a special cooling solution which keeps the GPU cooler under load and no overclock out of the box. Performance-wise, it's as fast as the reference GeForce GT 730 v3. | HD i3 3220 is a specific version of the Intel HD 2500 Graphics that comes with the CPU 'Core i3-3220 3.3GHz'. The new features include DirectX 11 and Tessellation support. Using Tesselation might not be a very good idea since even strong fast-middle-class GPUs struggle with it. The core-clock is initially set at 650MHz and will go to up to 1150MHz, if necessary. The max memory supported by the CPU is 1600MHz DDR3, therefore the max memory speed is 800MHz. Benchmarks are yet to become available and so this GPU's rank is subject to change. |
