In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce 9800M GT are marginally better than the AMD Radeon R5 7150B.

The Radeon R5 7150B was released over three years more recently than the GeForce 9800M GT, and so the Radeon R5 7150B is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GeForce 9800M GT when running the latest games.

The GeForce 9800M GT has 512 MB video memory, but the Radeon R5 7150B does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The Radeon R5 7150B has 256 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 9800M GT has 96. However, the actual shader performance of the Radeon R5 7150B is 89 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 9800M GT is 120. The GeForce 9800M GT having 31 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GeForce 9800M GT delivers a marginally smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Radeon R5 7150B.

The Radeon R5 7150B transistor size technology is 37 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GeForce 9800M GT. This means that the Radeon R5 7150B is expected to run much cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GeForce 9800M GT. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the Radeon R5 7150B should consume less power than the GeForce 9800M GT.

The Radeon R5 7150B requires 20 Watts to run and the GeForce 9800M GT requires 65 Watts. The GeForce 9800M GT requires 45 Watts more than the Radeon R5 7150B to run. The difference is significant enough that the GeForce 9800M GT may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the Radeon R5 7150B.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewRadeon R5 7150B is an integrated Graphics Card in the APU A8-7150B.

It is based on the Graphics Core Next Architecture and offers 256 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. While the central unit is set at 533MHz, the memory bus-width will depend on whether or not the system's RAM is dual-channeled and the operating memory clock, on its frequency. Thus, it can be either 64-bit or 128-bit and up to 800MHz.
The Graphics Card also shares the processor's L2 Cache of 4MB. Therefore, it reduces the need to resort to its memory bandwidth.

Therefore, the Graphics Card's performance depends a lot on the system configuration. Best case scenario, expect performance similar to a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 710M or an AMD Radeon R5 M220.
The card is only suited for gaming below 720p and all modern demanding games can be played at least on low settings.
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT GPUs deliver optimized performance for immersive gaming on-the-go. Powering the next generation of visual computing, blazing-fast mobile gaming, and the ultimate HD experience with PureVideo HD technology. This product is also enabled for CUDA applications and is NVIDIA PhysX-ready.
