In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro4 550 XGL are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440 AGP 8X.

The 4 MX was released less than a year after the Quadro4 550 XGL, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.

The 4 MX has 64 MB more video memory than the Quadro4 550 XGL, so is likely to be slightly better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the 4 MX also has superior memory performance overall.

The 4 MX has 1.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Quadro4 550 XGL, which means that the memory performance of the 4 MX is marginally better than the Quadro4 550 XGL.

Both the Quadro4 550 XGL and the GeForce 4 MX 440 AGP 8X have 2 Shader Processing Units. The two GPUs are based on different architectures, but deliver an equivalent shader performance. To compare, we must continue to look at the memory bandwidth, Texture and Pixel Rates. In this case, we sadly do not have enough data in this area to complete the comparison.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewQuadro4 550 XGL is a professional graphics card that will deliver similar gaming performance to GeForce4 MX 460, though worse due to the lack of support for gaming drivers, lower memory bandwidth and reduced frame buffer size, as well as a lower clocked central unit.GeForce 4 MX 440 AGP 8X is a variant of the GeForce 4 MX 440 that's connected via AGP 8X interface and features a tiny bit more memory bandwidth which might not even affect its performance, overall.
