In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro4 550 XGL are massively better than the AMD Radeon X1270.

The Radeon X1270 was released over three years more recently than the Quadro4 550 XGL, and so the Radeon X1270 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the Quadro4 550 XGL when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.

The Radeon X1270 has 64 MB more video memory than the Quadro4 550 XGL, so is likely to be slightly better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the Quadro4 550 XGL has superior memory performance.

The Quadro4 550 XGL has 3.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Radeon X1270, which means that the memory performance of the Quadro4 550 XGL is marginally better than the Radeon X1270.

The Quadro4 550 XGL has 2 Shader Processing Units but the Radeon X1270 does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The Radeon X1270 requires 14 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Quadro4 550 XGL.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewQuadro4 550 XGL is a professional graphics card that will deliver similar gaming performance to GeForce4 MX 460, though worse due to the lack of support for gaming drivers, lower memory bandwidth and reduced frame buffer size, as well as a lower clocked central unit. This GPU was intended to be an overclocked and tweaked Radeon Xpress 1200 but it was never released and it does not exist.
