In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro4 550 XGL are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS.

The 7300 SE/7200 has a 180 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the Quadro4 550 XGL. This results in the 7300 SE/7200 providing 0.7 GTexel/s better texturing performance. Neither of these GPUs support DirectX 10 or higher, so Texture Rate holds more weight than when comparing more modern GPUs.

The 7300 SE/7200 has a 180 MHz higher core clock speed than the Quadro4 550 XGL, but the Quadro4 550 XGL has 2 more Render Output Units than the 7300 SE/7200. As a result, the Quadro4 550 XGL exhibits a 0.2 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the 7300 SE/7200. Neither of these GPUs support DirectX 9 or higher, so Pixel Rate holds more weight than when comparing more modern GPUs.

The 7300 SE/7200 was released over three years more recently than the Quadro4 550 XGL, and so the 7300 SE/7200 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the Quadro4 550 XGL when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.

The Quadro4 550 XGL has 64 MB video memory, but the 7300 SE/7200 does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

Both the Quadro4 550 XGL and the GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS have 2 Shader Processing Units. The two GPUs are based on different architectures, but deliver an equivalent shader performance. To compare, we must continue to look at the memory bandwidth, Texture and Pixel Rates. In this case, the 7300 SE/7200 has 0.7 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate and 3.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth, but the Quadro4 550 XGL has 0.2 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate. Although the GPUs are very similar in performance, the 7300 SE/7200 takes the edge.

The 7300 SE/7200 transistor size technology is 60 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Quadro4 550 XGL. This means that the 7300 SE/7200 is expected to run massively cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Quadro4 550 XGL. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the 7300 SE/7200 should consume less power than the Quadro4 550 XGL.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewQuadro4 550 XGL is a professional graphics card that will deliver similar gaming performance to GeForce4 MX 460, though worse due to the lack of support for gaming drivers, lower memory bandwidth and reduced frame buffer size, as well as a lower clocked central unit. The 7200 GS has the same memory speed as the 7300 GS, and the core frequency is the same as the 7300 LE. It has two pixel pipelines. Nvidia stated that the 7200 GS performance is 50% higher than the latest integrated graphics, it's the slowest card of the GeForce 7 Series and of the GeForce 6 Series but supports HDR and Nvidia PureVideo Technology.
