In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT Inno3D 1GB Edition are significantly better than the Nvidia Quadro4 780 XGL.

The 8500 GT supports up to DirectX 10.0, so pixeling performance is not particularly relevant for this GPU. It would be relevant for comparing the Quadro4 780 XGL with other old GPUs, but in this case it is probably safe to say that the 8500 GT is superior.

The 8500 GT was released over three years more recently than the Quadro4 780 XGL, and so the 8500 GT is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the Quadro4 780 XGL when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.

Mini ReviewQuadro4 780 XGL is a professional graphics card that will deliver similar gaming performance to GeForce4 Ti 4400, though worse due to the lack of support for gaming drivers.GeForce 8500 GT Inno3D 1GB Edition is a special edition of the middle-class GeForce 8500 GT. See the page of the standard version for more information.
The new features include a small OC on the core-clock that went from 450MHz to 460MHz. The video memory size was increased to 1GB but that may prove useless, since high video memory usages results from gaming at extreme resolutions and using techniques like AA, MSAA. Due to its architecture limitations (in the core G86) GeForce 8500 GT Inno3D 1GB Edition is not powerful enough to process that much information.
The performance boost is very reduced and so Very Demanding games will require very reduced settings while modern, demanding games will run fluently from low to medium settings.
