In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 3-way SLI are significantly better than the Nvidia Quadro Plex 7000.

The GTX 480 has a 127 MHz higher core clock speed and 52 more Texture Mapping Units than the Quadro Plex 7000. This results in the GTX 480 providing 52.7 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

It's based on 2 Fermi GF100 GPUs and thus offers 1024 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 96 ROPs, on a 768-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit runs at 574MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 750MHz. It has a L2 Cache of 1536KB and a rated board TDP of 600 Watts.

Despite exhibiting similarities to GeForce GTX 590, due to being under-clocked and because Quadro Plex 7000's drivers are only certified for professional applications only, its gaming performance is up to 10% slower than GeForce GTX 590.
