In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 6850 Sapphire 1GB Edition are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 745 (OEM).

The GTX 745 was released over three years more recently than the HD 6850, and so the GTX 745 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the HD 6850 when running the latest games.

The GTX 745 has 3072 MB more video memory than the HD 6850, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the HD 6850 has superior memory performance.

The GeForce GTX 745 (OEM) has 384 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 6850 Sapphire 1GB Edition has 960. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 745 is 536 and the actual shader performance of the HD 6850 is 372. The GTX 745 having 164 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the HD 6850 performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

GeForce GTX 745 is an OEM only, Fast-Middle-Class Graphics Card based on the First Variant of the Maxwell architecture.

Architecture
The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GM107-300-A2 which has 3 SM activated and thus offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 24 TMUs and 16 ROPs, on a 128-bit memory interface of DDR3. The central unit runs at 1033MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.2 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 55W, it requires at least a 300W PSU and relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power.

Performance
Benchmarks Indicate Good Performance at resolutions up to 1920x1080.
However, even at 1920x1080 GeForce GTX 750 is still considerably faster.

System Suggestions
We recommend a considerably strong processor (Intel Core i3 Dual Core/AMD FX Quad Core) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 745.
