In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 8950 (OEM) are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 740 v2 Gainward 1GB Edition.

Mini ReviewGeForce GT 740 v2 Gainward 1GB Edition is a special edition of the middle-class GeForce GT 740 v2.
This edition comes with a custom cooling solution which will not yield any performance boost, as GeForce GT 740 v2 does not benefit from the GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
Since it doesn't come overclocked out of the box, its performance is exactly like the reference GeForce GT 740 and thus GeForce GTX 650 is still faster.
Radeon HD 8950 (OEM) is an OEM Only, High-End Graphics Card based on the First Revision of the Graphics Core Next (GCN) Architecture.

The GCN 1.1 revision of the Graphics Core Next Architecture adds new important technologies and is largely oriented for energy efficiency. New technologies such as PowerTune and TrueAudio are the biggest additions as well as DirectX 11.2 support.

It equips a GPU Codenamed Tahiti PRO2 which has 28 Compute Units activated and thus offers 1792 Shader Processing Units, 112 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 850MHz and goes up to 925MHz, in Turbo Mode.

The GPU accesses a 3GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 384-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 1250MHz.

With a rated board TDP of 200W, it requires at least a 500W PSU with two available 6-pin connectors.

Radeon HD 8950 (OEM) is a Direct Rebrand of Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition and performs exactly like it.
