In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon R9 M265X are significantly better than the Nvidia Quadro FX 3700M.

The Radeon R9 M265X was released over three years more recently than the Quadro FX 3700M, and so the Radeon R9 M265X is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the Quadro FX 3700M when running the latest games.

The Radeon R9 M265X has 1024 MB more video memory than the Quadro FX 3700M, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the Radeon R9 M265X also has superior memory performance overall.

The Radeon R9 M265X has 12.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Quadro FX 3700M, which means that the memory performance of the Radeon R9 M265X is slightly better than the Quadro FX 3700M.

The Radeon R9 M265X has 384 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro FX 3700M has 128. However, the actual shader performance of the Radeon R9 M265X is 240 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro FX 3700M is 70. The Radeon R9 M265X having 170 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Radeon R9 M265X delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Quadro FX 3700M.

The Radeon R9 M265X transistor size technology is 37 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Quadro FX 3700M. This means that the Radeon R9 M265X is expected to run much cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Quadro FX 3700M.

The Radeon R9 M265X requires 35 Watts to run and the Quadro FX 3700M requires 75 Watts. The Quadro FX 3700M requires 40 Watts more than the Radeon R9 M265X to run. The difference is significant enough that the Quadro FX 3700M may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the Radeon R9 M265X.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Radeon R9 M265X is a middle-class Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Graphics Core Next Architecture.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Venus PRO which has 5 SM activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs, on a 192-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit runs at 575MHz and goes up to 625MHz, in Turbo Mode, while the memory clock operates at 1000MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.2 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Crossfire, PowerPlay, PowerTune, Mantle, Enduro and other technologies.

Temperature
N/A.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 35W, it will only be equipped in medium sized notebooks.

Performance
Its performance is almost identical to Radeon HD 8850M and therefore lies between GeForce GT 750M and GeForce GT 755M. Thus, the card is not suited for 1080p but will handle 720p with ease.

System Suggestions
We recommend strong Dual Core Processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile Quad Core) and 8GB of RAM for a notebook with Radeon R9 M265X.
