In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 SLI are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 PNY Enthusiast 4GB OC Edition.

The GTX 770 has a 196 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 780, but the GTX 780 has 256 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 770. As a result, the GTX 780 exhibits a 195.8 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 770. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 770 has a 196 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 780, but the GTX 780 has 64 more Render Output Units than the GTX 770. As a result, the GTX 780 exhibits a 48.9 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 770. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 770 was released less than a year after the GTX 780, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 780 has 2048 MB more video memory than the GTX 770, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 780 also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 780 has 352.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 770, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 780 is massively better than the GTX 770.

The GeForce GTX 770 PNY Enthusiast 4GB OC Edition has 1536 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 780 SLI has 4608. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 770 is 1706 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 780 is 4156. The GTX 780 having 2450 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 780 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 770.

The GeForce GTX 770 PNY Enthusiast 4GB OC Edition requires 230 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 780 SLI requires 500 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 770 and a PSU with at least 750 Watts for the GTX 780. The GTX 780 requires 270 Watts more than the GTX 770 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 780 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 770.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 770 PNY Enthusiast 4GB OC Edition is a special edition of GeForce GTX 770.
This edition comes with a custom dual fan cooling solution which by itself should allow a slight performance boost, as GeForce GTX 770 benefits from the GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
Also, it has been overclocked out of the box from 1046MHz to 1059MHz while its boost clock is now of 1111MHz and its frame buffer was doubled to 4GB, which will prove useless. The memory clock was left untouched.
Benchmarks indicate a 4% performance boost when compared to the reference card.
GeForce GTX 780 SLI is a combination of 2 GeForce GTX 780 put together using NVIDIA's SLI technology.
Together, this combination offers 4608 Shader Processing Units, 384 TMUs and 96 ROPs. This, on a 384-bit memory interface, per card, of fast GDDR5. While the central unit runs at 863MHz and goes up to 902MHz, in Turbo Mode, the memory clock operates at 1502MHz.
Best case scenario, this combination surpasses considerably a single GeForce GTX 690 but ultimately, its performance depends on the driver support and on the 3D application.
Therefore, and paired with a powerful processor, all demanding games are playable at the highest settings. Still, this combination might surpass the 500W barrier of TDP and so it will require a powerful PSU.
