In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 Leadtek Hurricane III Edition are massively better than the AMD FirePro W7000.

The GTX 770 has a 109 MHz higher core clock speed and 48 more Texture Mapping Units than the FirePro W7000. This results in the GTX 770 providing 59.6 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 770 has a 109 MHz higher core clock speed than the FirePro W7000 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 770 providing 3.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 770 was released less than a year after the FirePro W7000, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The GeForce GTX 770 Leadtek Hurricane III Edition and the FirePro W7000 have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The GTX 770 has 70.7 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the FirePro W7000, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 770 is much better than the FirePro W7000.

The GeForce GTX 770 Leadtek Hurricane III Edition has 1536 Shader Processing Units and the FirePro W7000 has 1280. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 770 is 1706 and the actual shader performance of the FirePro W7000 is 790. The GTX 770 having 916 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 770 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the FirePro W7000.

The GeForce GTX 770 Leadtek Hurricane III Edition requires 230 Watts to run and the FirePro W7000 requires 150 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 770. The GTX 770 requires 80 Watts more than the FirePro W7000 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 770 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the FirePro W7000.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 770 Leadtek Hurricane III Edition is a special edition of the high-end GeForce GTX 770.
This edition comes with a custom triple fan cooling solution which by itself should allow a slight performance boost, as GeForce GTX 770 benefits from the GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
Also, it has been overclocked out of the box from 1046MHz to 1059MHz while its boost clock is now of 1111MHz. The memory clock was left untouched.
Benchmarks indicate a 3% performance boost when compared to the reference card.
Note: This card has 2GB and 4GB versions. Both offer the same performance.
FirePro W7000 is a server GPU based on the 28nm GCN architecture.
It's based on the Pitcairn XT Core (same used on 7870) and therefore offers 1280 Shader Processing Units, 80 TMUs and 32 ROPs on a 256-bit interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit is clocked 950MHz while the memory clock operates at 1200MHZ.
Compared to Radeon HD 7870, its central unit is slightly lower clocked and its gaming performance is even lower, as Radeon HD 7870 benefits from certified gaming drivers which unlock the GCN's architecture potential while FirePro W7000 is made for professional applications. Therefore, expect its performance to be between 10% and 15% worse than Radeon HD 7870.
