In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Galaxy HOF 3GB Edition are significantly better than the AMD Radeon HD 7790 Crossfire.

The GTX 780 has a 6 MHz higher core clock speed and 80 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 7790. This results in the GTX 780 providing 81.2 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 780 has a 6 MHz higher core clock speed and 16 more Render Output Units than the HD 7790. This results in the GTX 780 providing 16.3 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 780 was released less than a year after the HD 7790, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 780 has 1024 MB more video memory than the HD 7790, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 780 also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 780 has 96.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 7790, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 780 is massively better than the HD 7790.

The GeForce GTX 780 Galaxy HOF 3GB Edition has 2304 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 7790 Crossfire has 1792. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 780 is 2438 and the actual shader performance of the HD 7790 is 1523. The GTX 780 having 915 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 780 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 7790.

The GeForce GTX 780 Galaxy HOF 3GB Edition requires 250 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 7790 Crossfire requires 170 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 780 and a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the HD 7790. The GTX 780 requires 80 Watts more than the HD 7790 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 780 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD 7790.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 780 Galaxy HOF 3GB Edition is a special edition of the high-end GeForce GTX 780.
This edition comes with a custom double fan cooling solution which will allow a reasonable performance boost from the start, as GeForce GTX 780 benefits from the GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
Also, it has been overclocked out of the box from 863MHz to 1006MHz while its boost clock is now of 1058MHz. The memory clock was left untouched.
Benchmarks indicate a 11% performance boost when compared to the reference card and so this edition performs slightly better than GeForce GTX Titan.
Radeon HD 7790 Crossfire is a solution of two Radeon HD 7790 put together using AMD'S Crossfire technology.
Check the page of Radeon HD 7790 to know more about its chip.
Crossfire relies a lot on proper driver support and may suffer from micro-stuttering in lower frame rates (below 30). Benchmarks indicate the performance is overall, is up around 55% better a single Radeon HD 7790 performing by itself but at times (depending whether or not the 3D game supports crossfire or in the graphics driver) it performed worse than a single Radeon HD 7790. Still, it might provide similar performance to a single Radeon HD 7950. Expect this combination to draw up to 170 Watt though the average power consumption should be slightly lower.
Most demanding games will run at the highest settings.
