In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 SLI are significantly better than the Nvidia Tesla K40c.

The GTX 770 has a 340 MHz higher core clock speed and 16 more Texture Mapping Units than the Tesla K40c. This results in the GTX 770 providing 98.4 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 770 has a 340 MHz higher core clock speed and 16 more Render Output Units than the Tesla K40c. This results in the GTX 770 providing 33 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The Tesla K40c was released less than a year after the GTX 770, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The Tesla K40c has 8192 MB more video memory than the GTX 770, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the GTX 770 has superior memory performance.

The GTX 770 has 160.1 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Tesla K40c, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 770 is massively better than the Tesla K40c.

The Tesla K40c has 2888 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 770 SLI has 3072. However, the actual shader performance of the Tesla K40c is 2039 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 770 is 3333. The GTX 770 having 1294 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 770 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Tesla K40c.

The Tesla K40c requires 245 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 770 SLI requires 400 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 750 Watts for the GTX 770, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the Tesla K40c. The GTX 770 requires 155 Watts more than the Tesla K40c to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 770 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the Tesla K40c.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewTesla K40c is a high-end professional Graphics Card created for server purposes only.
It's designed to solve the most complex high performance computing problems.
It comes with a Kepler GK110 with a full count of 2880 Shader Processing Units but the drivers aren't certified for games. Therefore, even if Tesla K40 is powerful enough for even the most demanding games, it might not be compatible.
Its gaming performance is below comparable to GeForce GTX Titan.
GeForce GTX 770 SLI is a combination of 2 GeForce GTX 770 put together using NVIDIA's SLI technology.
Together, this combination offers 3072 Shader Processing Units, 256 TMUs and 64 ROPs. This, on a 256-bit memory interface, per card, of fast GDDR5. While the central unit runs at 1046MHz and goes up to 1085MHz, in Turbo Mode, the memory clock operates at 1752MHz.
Best case scenario, this combination performs better than dual-graphics GeForce GTX 690 but ultimately, its performance depends on the driver support and on the 3D application.
Therefore, and paired with a powerful processor, all demanding games are playable at the highest settings. Still, this combination might surpass the 450W barrier of TDP and so it will require a very powerful PSU.
