In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTS 360M are marginally better than the AMD Radeon HD 8610G.

The GeForce GTS 360M has a 17 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the Radeon HD 8610G. This results in the GeForce GTS 360M providing 4.8 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GeForce GTS 360M has a 17 MHz higher core clock speed than the Radeon HD 8610G and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GeForce GTS 360M providing 0.1 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The Radeon HD 8610G was released over three years more recently than the GeForce GTS 360M, and so the Radeon HD 8610G is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GeForce GTS 360M when running the latest games.

The GeForce GTS 360M has 1024 MB video memory, but the Radeon HD 8610G does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The Radeon HD 8610G has 384 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTS 360M has 96. However, the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD 8610G is 240 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GTS 360M is 121. The Radeon HD 8610G having 119 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GeForce GTS 360M performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The Radeon HD 8610G transistor size technology is 8 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GeForce GTS 360M. This means that the Radeon HD 8610G is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GeForce GTS 360M. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the Radeon HD 8610G should consume less power than the GeForce GTS 360M.

The Radeon HD 8610G requires 25 Watts to run and the GeForce GTS 360M requires 38 Watts. The GeForce GTS 360M requires 13 Watts more than the Radeon HD 8610G to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GeForce GTS 360M to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the Radeon HD 8610G.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 8610G is an integrated mobile GPU, first seen on the ultra low-voltage APU A10-5745M, based on the 32nm, Terascale 3 architecture.
It offer 384 Shader Processing Units, 24 TMUs and 8 ROPs, on a DDR3 memory interface of either a 128-bit bus width, if the laptop system RAM's is dual-channelled, or a 64-bit bus width, if not. The central units runs at 533MHz and goes up to 626MHz, in Turbo Mode. The memory clock can operate up to 667MHz, as the max memory supported by the CPU is DDR3-1333.
Its performance depends heavily on whether or not the memory is dual-channelled. Benchmarks put its performance on level with today's middle-class GPUs such as GeForce GT 540M-GeForce GT 630M or Radeon HD 7650M/7670M. Therefore, modern demanding games can be played with medium detail.
GeForce GTS 360M is a fast-middle-class GFX based on the second shader unified architecture.
It's based on the GT 215 Core and offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 8 ROPs on a 128-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5, although DDR3 is also supported. The central unit runs at 575MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 900MHz.
It's at heart an overclocked GeForce GTS 260M and should perform slightly better than it.
Today's modern demanding games can be played at medium settings smoothly, using a 720p resolution. Beware that DirectX 11 games aren't supported.
