In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 SLI are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 EVGA SC Edition.

The GTX 680 has a 12 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 770, but the GTX 770 has 128 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 680. As a result, the GTX 770 exhibits a 132.4 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 680. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 680 has a 12 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 770, but the GTX 770 has 32 more Render Output Units than the GTX 680. As a result, the GTX 770 exhibits a 33 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 680. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 770 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 680, and so the GTX 770 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 680.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 770 has 2048 MB more video memory than the GTX 680, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 770 also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 770 has 249.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 680, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 770 is massively better than the GTX 680.

The GeForce GTX 770 SLI has 3072 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 680 EVGA SC Edition has 1536. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 770 is 3333 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 680 is 1726. The GTX 770 having 1607 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 770 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 680.

The GeForce GTX 770 SLI requires 400 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 680 EVGA SC Edition requires 195 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 750 Watts for the GTX 770 and a PSU with at least 550 Watts for the GTX 680. The GTX 770 requires 205 Watts more than the GTX 680 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 770 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 680.

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 770 SLI is a combination of 2 GeForce GTX 770 put together using NVIDIA's SLI technology.
Together, this combination offers 3072 Shader Processing Units, 256 TMUs and 64 ROPs. This, on a 256-bit memory interface, per card, of fast GDDR5. While the central unit runs at 1046MHz and goes up to 1085MHz, in Turbo Mode, the memory clock operates at 1752MHz.
Best case scenario, this combination performs better than dual-graphics GeForce GTX 690 but ultimately, its performance depends on the driver support and on the 3D application.
Therefore, and paired with a powerful processor, all demanding games are playable at the highest settings. Still, this combination might surpass the 450W barrier of TDP and so it will require a very powerful PSU.

Compared to the standard version, GeForce GTX 680 EVGA SC Edition features increased core and memory clocks, from 1006MHz to 1058MHz and from 6008MHz to 6208MHz, respectively, which will undoubtedly give a performance boost, increasing the Textel/Pixel Fill Rate but also increasing the Memory Bandwidth. The "Boost Clock" was also increased and can now attain some whooping 1124MHz.
Benchmarks indicate a 4% boost in performance when compared to the standard GeForce GTX 680.
A GeForce GTX 680 EVGA SC Plus Edition will also be released with increased cooling to raise even more the "Boost Clock".
