In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro Plex 7000 are massively better than the Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200 Desktop.

The Quadro Plex 7000 has a 174 MHz higher core clock speed and 120 more Texture Mapping Units than the Pro Graphics. This results in the Quadro Plex 7000 providing 70.3 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The Quadro Plex 7000 has a 174 MHz higher core clock speed and 92 more Render Output Units than the Pro Graphics. This results in the Quadro Plex 7000 providing 53.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The Pro Graphics was released over a year more recently than the Quadro Plex 7000, and so the Pro Graphics is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the Quadro Plex 7000.

The Quadro Plex 7000 has 12288 MB video memory, but the Pro Graphics does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The Iris Pro Graphics 5200 Desktop has 160 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro Plex 7000 has 1024. However, the actual shader performance of the Pro Graphics is 314 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro Plex 7000 is 1176. The Quadro Plex 7000 having 862 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Quadro Plex 7000 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Pro Graphics.

The Pro Graphics transistor size technology is 18 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Quadro Plex 7000. This means that the Pro Graphics is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Quadro Plex 7000.

The Iris Pro Graphics 5200 Desktop requires 28 Watts to run and the Quadro Plex 7000 requires 600 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 900 Watts for the Quadro Plex 7000, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the Pro Graphics. The Quadro Plex 7000 requires 572 Watts more than the Pro Graphics to run. The difference is significant enough that the Quadro Plex 7000 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the Pro Graphics.

Mini ReviewIris Pro Graphics 5200 Desktop are found in some of the 2013 Haswell desktop processors.
They feature 40 Execution Units (160 Shader Processing Units), 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs. They share system memory and so the memory channel and speed will depend on the users configuration. The best possible combination is a dual-channel bus-width with an operating memory clock of 800MHz.
Its central unit and turbo frequency also depend on the CPU its embedded but it ranges from 400MHz to 1300MHz.
Compared to Iris Graphics 5100 Desktop, they offer an additional eDRAM cache of 128MB and so might offer performance identical to a dedicated GeForce GT 640 or a Radeon HD 6670.
Quadro Plex 7000 is an enthusiast professional card based on the 40nm, Fermi architecture.

It's based on 2 Fermi GF100 GPUs and thus offers 1024 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 96 ROPs, on a 768-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit runs at 574MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 750MHz. It has a L2 Cache of 1536KB and a rated board TDP of 600 Watts.

Despite exhibiting similarities to GeForce GTX 590, due to being under-clocked and because Quadro Plex 7000's drivers are only certified for professional applications only, its gaming performance is up to 10% slower than GeForce GTX 590.
