In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 120 are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra.

The GeForce GT 120 was released over three years more recently than the GeForce 6800 Ultra, and so the GeForce GT 120 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GeForce 6800 Ultra when running the latest games.

The GeForce GT 120 has 256 MB more video memory than the GeForce 6800 Ultra, so is likely to be slightly better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the GeForce 6800 Ultra has superior memory performance.

The GeForce 6800 Ultra has 19.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce GT 120, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce 6800 Ultra is slightly better than the GeForce GT 120.

The GeForce GT 120 has 32 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 6800 Ultra has 22. However, the actual shader performance of the GeForce GT 120 is 40 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 6800 Ultra is 9. The GeForce GT 120 having 31 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GeForce 6800 Ultra performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The GeForce GT 120 requires 50 Watts to run and the GeForce 6800 Ultra requires 124 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 350 Watts for the GeForce GT 120. The GeForce 6800 Ultra requires 74 Watts more than the GeForce GT 120 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GeForce 6800 Ultra may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GeForce GT 120.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GT 120 is a middle-class GPU based on the 2009, 55nm, first-generation unified architecture.
It's based on the G96b Core and offers 32 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs, on a 128-bit memory interface of standard DDR2. The central unit runs at 500MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 500MHz.
It's therefore related to GeForce 9500 GT but with a slightly lower core-clock.
Today's modern demanding games will have to be played at low or medium settings to achieve fluent frame rates. DirectX 11 games aren't supported.
The groundbreaking new NVIDIA GeForce 6800 graphics processing units (GPUs) and their revolutionary technologies power worlds where reality and fantasy meet; worlds in which new standards are set for visual realism and quality, performance, and video functionality. The GeForce 6800 GPUs deliver powerful, elegant graphics to drench your senses, immersing you in unparalleled worlds of visual effects for the ultimate PC experience.
