In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 EVGA SC w/ ACX Edition are significantly better than the Nvidia Quadro Plex 7000.

The GTX 780 has a 393 MHz higher core clock speed and 64 more Texture Mapping Units than the Quadro Plex 7000. This results in the GTX 780 providing 112.2 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 780 has a 393 MHz higher core clock speed than the Quadro Plex 7000, but the Quadro Plex 7000 has 48 more Render Output Units than the GTX 780. As a result, the Quadro Plex 7000 exhibits a 8.7 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 780. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 780 was released over a year more recently than the Quadro Plex 7000, and so the GTX 780 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the Quadro Plex 7000.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The Quadro Plex 7000 has 9216 MB more video memory than the GTX 780, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, the overall memory performance is about the same.

The GTX 780 has 0.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Quadro Plex 7000, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 780 is marginally better than the Quadro Plex 7000.

The GeForce GTX 780 EVGA SC w/ ACX Edition has 2304 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro Plex 7000 has 1024. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 780 is 2350 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro Plex 7000 is 1176. The GTX 780 having 1174 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 780 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Quadro Plex 7000.

The GTX 780 transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Quadro Plex 7000. This means that the GTX 780 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Quadro Plex 7000.

The GeForce GTX 780 EVGA SC w/ ACX Edition requires 250 Watts to run and the Quadro Plex 7000 requires 600 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 780 and a PSU with at least 900 Watts for the Quadro Plex 7000. The Quadro Plex 7000 requires 350 Watts more than the GTX 780 to run. The difference is significant enough that the Quadro Plex 7000 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 780.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 780 EVGA SC w/ ACX Edition is a special edition of the high-end GeForce GTX 780.
This edition comes with a custom double fan cooling solution and with a special PCB which together allow a reasonable performance boost from the start, as GeForce GTX 780 benefits from the GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
Also, it has been overclocked out of the box from 863MHz to 967MHz while its boost clock is now of 1020MHz. The memory clock was left untouched.
Benchmarks indicate a 9% performance boost when compared to the reference card and so this edition performs slightly better than GeForce GTX Titan.
Quadro Plex 7000 is an enthusiast professional card based on the 40nm, Fermi architecture.

It's based on 2 Fermi GF100 GPUs and thus offers 1024 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 96 ROPs, on a 768-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit runs at 574MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 750MHz. It has a L2 Cache of 1536KB and a rated board TDP of 600 Watts.

Despite exhibiting similarities to GeForce GTX 590, due to being under-clocked and because Quadro Plex 7000's drivers are only certified for professional applications only, its gaming performance is up to 10% slower than GeForce GTX 590.
