In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 6850 VTX3D 1GB X-Edition are marginally better than the AMD Radeon HD 6850 Sapphire 1GB Edition.

The HD 6850 has a 25 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the HD 6850. This results in the HD 6850 providing 1.2 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The new features include increases in the core and memory clocks that went from 775MHz to 800MHz and from 1000MHz to 1050MHz, respectively. A better cooling system is also included.
The performance increase is of about 3% when compared to the reference card.
