In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Gigabyte OC 1GB Edition are massively better than the Intel HD i7 3770.

The GTX 650 has a 460 MHz higher core clock speed and 28 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD i7 3770. This results in the GTX 650 providing 32.9 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 650 has a 460 MHz higher core clock speed and 12 more Render Output Units than the HD i7 3770. This results in the GTX 650 providing 15.2 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 650 was released less than a year after the HD i7 3770, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The GTX 650 has 1024 MB video memory, but the HD i7 3770 does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The GeForce GTX 650 Gigabyte OC 1GB Edition has 384 Shader Processing Units and the HD i7 3770 has 16. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 650 is 426 and the actual shader performance of the HD i7 3770 is 74. The GTX 650 having 352 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 650 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD i7 3770.

The HD i7 3770 transistor size technology is 6 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 650. This means that the HD i7 3770 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 650.

The HD i7 3770 requires 77 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GTX 650. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 650 and a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the HD i7 3770. The GTX 650 has been recommended a PSU with 100 Watts more than the HD i7 3770. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 650 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD i7 3770.
