In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Gigabyte OC 1GB Edition are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 620 PNY PCIe 1GB Edition.

The GTX 650 has a 410 MHz higher core clock speed and 16 more Texture Mapping Units than the GT 620. This results in the GTX 650 providing 24.3 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 650 has a 410 MHz higher core clock speed and 12 more Render Output Units than the GT 620. This results in the GTX 650 providing 15 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 650 was released less than a year after the GT 620, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The GeForce GTX 650 Gigabyte OC 1GB Edition and the GeForce GT 620 PNY PCIe 1GB Edition have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The GTX 650 has 71.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GT 620, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 650 is much better than the GT 620.

The GeForce GTX 650 Gigabyte OC 1GB Edition has 384 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GT 620 PNY PCIe 1GB Edition has 96. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 650 is 426 and the actual shader performance of the GT 620 is 134. The GTX 650 having 292 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 650 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GT 620.

The GTX 650 transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GT 620. This means that the GTX 650 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GT 620.

The GeForce GT 620 PNY PCIe 1GB Edition requires 30 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GTX 650. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 650 and a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GT 620. The GTX 650 has been recommended a PSU with 100 Watts more than the GT 620. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 650 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GT 620.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 650 Gigabyte OC 1GB Edition is a special edition of the fast-middle-class GeForce GTX 650 1GB.
This special edition comes overclocked out of the box to 1110MHz and features a custom-designed 10 cm cooler.
Benchmarks indicate a 4% performance boost when compared to the reference card and so this GPU is suitable for medium to high settings on most demanding games but not with extreme resolutions.
Overview
GeForce GT 620 PNY PCIe 1GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's Entry-Level GeForce GT 620, created by PNY.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit runs at the same speed.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock runs at 535MHz while the Frame Buffer remains the same: 1GB. This is a gimmick and in no way benefits the GPU.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System remains the same.

Performance
Without Overclocking Out of The Box, GeForce GT 620 PNY PCIe 1GB Edition is as fast as the reference GeForce GT 620.
