In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3-way SLI are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 690.

The GTX 660 Ti and the GeForce GTX 690 have the same core clock speed of 915 MHz, but the GTX 660 Ti has 80 more Texture Mapping Units than the GeForce GTX 690. As a result, the GTX 660 Ti exhibits a 73.2 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GeForce GTX 690. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 660 Ti and the GeForce GTX 690 have the same core clock speed of 915 MHz, but the GTX 660 Ti has 8 more Render Output Units than the GeForce GTX 690. As a result, the GTX 660 Ti exhibits a 7.3 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GeForce GTX 690. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 660 Ti was released less than a year after the GeForce GTX 690, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 660 Ti has 2048 MB more video memory than the GeForce GTX 690, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 660 Ti also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 660 Ti has 48.6 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce GTX 690, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 660 Ti is noticeably better than the GeForce GTX 690.

The GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3-way SLI has 4032 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 690 has 3072. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 660 Ti is 3951 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GTX 690 is 3130. The GTX 660 Ti having 821 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 660 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce GTX 690.

The GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3-way SLI requires 450 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 690 requires 300 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 650 Watts for the GeForce GTX 690, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the GTX 660 Ti. The GTX 660 Ti requires 150 Watts more than the GeForce GTX 690 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 660 Ti may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GeForce GTX 690.

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 660 Ti 3-way SLI is a solution of three GeForce GTX 660 Ti put together using NVIDIA'S SLI technology.

As usual, SLI relies a lot on proper driver support and may suffer from micro-stuttering in lower frame rates (below 30). Benchmarks indicate the performance is overall, is up to X% better than a single GeForce GTX 660 Ti performing by itself but at times (depending whether or not the 3D game supports SLI or in the graphics driver) it performed worse than a single GeForce GTX 660 Ti. Expect this combination to draw up to 450 Watt though the average power consumption should be slightly lower.
Even the most demanding games will run at the highest settings.
GeForce GTX 690 is a dual-GPU graphics card solution of two GeForce GTX 680 (not SLI) and part of the 600 Series released by NVIDIA in 2012.
As usual and a hindrance of dual-GPU graphics cards, the clock frequencies had to be reduced. However, NVIDIA managed to almost double-cross this problem by developing Turbo Boost technology that sets the GPU's core clock from 915 to 1019MHz. The other specs, such as the number of cores, memory speed, and memory bandwidth per GPU are the same on both cards.
The Performance is mind-blowing and indicated for gamers that use demanding technologies, such as Tesselation, paired with extreme resolutions and on games already Very Demanding from the start, such as Metro 2033 and The Witcher 2. GeForce GTX 690 is less expensive and energy consuming than GTX 680 put in Dual SLI.
