In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro FX 3800M are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce 9800M GT SLI.

The Quadro FX 3800M was released over a year more recently than the 9800M GT, and so the Quadro FX 3800M is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the 9800M GT.

The GeForce 9800M GT SLI and the Quadro FX 3800M have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The 9800M GT has 38.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Quadro FX 3800M, which means that the memory performance of the 9800M GT is noticeably better than the Quadro FX 3800M.

The GeForce 9800M GT SLI has 192 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro FX 3800M has 128. However, the actual shader performance of the 9800M GT is 96 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro FX 3800M is 86. The 9800M GT having 10 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the 9800M GT delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Quadro FX 3800M.

The GeForce 9800M GT SLI requires 130 Watts to run and the Quadro FX 3800M requires 100 Watts. The 9800M GT requires 30 Watts more than the Quadro FX 3800M to run. The difference is not significant enough for the 9800M GT to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the Quadro FX 3800M.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce 9800M GT SLI is a solution of two GeForce 9800M GT put together using NVIDIA'S SLI technology.
Check the page of GeForce 9800M GT to know more about its chip.
As usual, SLI relies a lot on proper driver support and may suffer from micro-stuttering in lower frame rates (below 30). Benchmarks indicate the performance is overall, up to X% better than a single GeForce 9800M GT performing by itself but at times (depending whether or not the 3D game supports SLI or in the graphics driver) it performed worse than a single GeForce 9800M GT.
A few demanding games will run at the highest settings with fluent frame rates (30+) but overall most games will require reduced settings to be played optimally.
The no-compromise NVIDIA® Quadro® FX 3800M professional mobile graphics solution, featuring the NVIDIA® CUDA™ architecture, 30-bit color accuracy, and certification for the most demanding CAD, Oil & Gas, and content creation applications, provides a full-featured, ultimate performance experience for users on the go.
