In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 8670M are significantly better than the Intel HD Graphics 4000 Mobile.

The Radeon HD 8670M has a 125 MHz higher core clock speed and 20 more Texture Mapping Units than the Graphics 4000. This results in the Radeon HD 8670M providing 16 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The Radeon HD 8670M has a 125 MHz higher core clock speed and 4 more Render Output Units than the Graphics 4000. This results in the Radeon HD 8670M providing 3.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The Radeon HD 8670M was released less than a year after the Graphics 4000, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The Radeon HD 8670M has 1024 MB video memory, but the Graphics 4000 does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The Radeon HD 8670M has 384 Shader Processing Units and the HD Graphics 4000 Mobile has 16. However, the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD 8670M is 269 and the actual shader performance of the Graphics 4000 is 86. The Radeon HD 8670M having 183 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Radeon HD 8670M delivers a marginally smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Graphics 4000.

The Graphics 4000 transistor size technology is 6 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Radeon HD 8670M. This means that the Graphics 4000 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Radeon HD 8670M.

The HD Graphics 4000 Mobile requires 55 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon HD 8670M.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 8670M is a middle-class Graphics Card based on the GCN architecture.
It features the Mars XT GPU and thus offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 24 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The central unit can be initially clocked at up to 775MHz reach up to 825MHz in Turbo Mode while the memory interface is of 64-bit of standard DDR3.
It can be addressed as a fast Radeon HD 8550M due to its considerably higher core-clock speed.
Benchmarks indicate its performance is somewhat above NVIDIA's GeForce GT 630M and thus the card can run most modern games at medium games.
Overview
Intel HD Graphics 4000 Mobile are Integrated Graphics in some of Intel's Mobile Ivy Bridge Processors.

Architecture
The Ivy Bridge GT2 Core includes support for DirectX 11, OpenCL 1.2 and OpenGL 4.0. Additionally, it also offers Hardware Tessellation, Dedicated L3 Cache and better Video Decoding Performance, when compared to its Predecessor.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GT2 which offers 16 Shader Processing Units, 4 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit Initially Runs at 650MHz and goes up to 1350MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU Shares the System's RAM which varies from System to System. Typically, the GPU reserves 1.7GB. Depending on whether or not the system's RAM is Dual-Channeled, it can access either a 64-bit or 128-bit memory interface. The operating memory clock also depends on which speed the System's RAM is running and is limited by the highest operating speed that the Processor supports. In this case, it is 800MHz.
It is then obvious the Memory Bandwidth depends on a lot of factors and thus this Graphics Card performance may vary heavily from system to system.

Performance
The Most Powerful Variant Offers Performance similar to a dedicated GeForce GT 425M.
