In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 8690M are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce 710M.

The Radeon HD 8690M and the GeForce 710M have the same core clock speed of 775 MHz, but the Radeon HD 8690M has 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the GeForce 710M. As a result, the Radeon HD 8690M exhibits a 6.2 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GeForce 710M. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The Radeon HD 8690M and the GeForce 710M have both the same core clock speed and the same Pixel Fill Rate. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GeForce 710M was released less than a year after the Radeon HD 8690M, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The Radeon HD 8690M and the GeForce 710M have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The Radeon HD 8690M has 21.6 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce 710M, which means that the memory performance of the Radeon HD 8690M is slightly better than the GeForce 710M.

The Radeon HD 8690M has 384 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 710M has 96. However, the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD 8690M is 269 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 710M is 149. The Radeon HD 8690M having 120 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Radeon HD 8690M delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce 710M.

The GeForce 710M requires 15 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon HD 8690M.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 8690M is a middle-class GPU based on the GCN architecture.
It offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 24 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The central unit can be initially clocked at up to 775MHz reach up to 825MHz in Turbo Mode while the memory interface is of 64-bit of fast GDDR5.
It can be addressed as a fast Radeon HD 8570M due to its considerably higher core-clock speed.
Until benchmarks become available, this GPU's rank is subject to change.
Overview
GeForce 710M is a entry-level Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Fermi Architecture.

Architecture
The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm Technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature.
Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GF117-N14M-GL which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 775MHz. Additionally, GF117 is built using a 28nm technology.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 64-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Optimus, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 15W, it is suited for small laptops.

Performance
GeForce GT 710M is essentially a fast GeForce GT 620M.
Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is slightly below the older GeForce GT 540M.

System Suggestions
We recommend a modest processor (Intel Core i3 Mobile) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce 710M.
