In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti EVGA 2GB Edition are marginally better than the AMD Radeon HD 7750 VTX3D 1GB DDR3 Edition.

The GTX 550 Ti has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the HD 7750. This results in the GTX 550 Ti providing 3.2 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 550 Ti has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Render Output Units than the HD 7750. This results in the GTX 550 Ti providing 8.8 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The HD 7750 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 550 Ti, and so the HD 7750 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 550 Ti.

This means that the HD 7750 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 550 Ti. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the HD 7750 should consume less power than the GTX 550 Ti.

We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the HD 7750 and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 550 Ti. The two GPUs have been recommended a PSU with the same amount of wattage. As such, there is no need to worry about which will more significantly affect your yearly electricity bills.

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 7750 VTX3D 1GB DDR3 Edition is a special edition of the fast-middle-class Radeon HD 7750 1GB DDR3.
This version has no new features (when compared to the DDR3 version) and so it performs exactly like it.
GeForce GTX 550 Ti EVGA 2GB Edition is a special edition of the upper-middle-class GeForce GTX 550 Ti. See the standard edition's page for more information.
In this edition the frame buffer was increased to 2GB and the memory clock was slightly reduced. Increasing the frame buffer size of GeForce GTX 550 Ti does benefit from a 2GB frame buffer.
Some modern demanding games will run at the highest settings using a 1080p resolution but the largest part will have to be played with a 720p resolution to be played optimally.
This Graphics Card needs to be paired with a decent Quad Core CPU.
