In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti MSI OC v1 Edition are marginally better than the Nvidia Quadro Plex 7000.

The GTX 660 Ti has a 367 MHz higher core clock speed but 16 fewer Texture Mapping Units than the Quadro Plex 7000. The lower TMU count doesn't matter, though, as altogether the GTX 660 Ti manages to provide 31.9 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 660 Ti has a 367 MHz higher core clock speed than the Quadro Plex 7000, but the Quadro Plex 7000 has 72 more Render Output Units than the GTX 660 Ti. As a result, the Quadro Plex 7000 exhibits a 32.5 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 660 Ti. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 660 Ti was released over a year more recently than the Quadro Plex 7000, and so the GTX 660 Ti is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the Quadro Plex 7000.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The Quadro Plex 7000 has 10240 MB more video memory than the GTX 660 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the Quadro Plex 7000 also has superior memory performance overall.

The Quadro Plex 7000 has 143.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 660 Ti, which means that the memory performance of the Quadro Plex 7000 is massively better than the GTX 660 Ti.

The GeForce GTX 660 Ti MSI OC v1 Edition has 1344 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro Plex 7000 has 1024. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 660 Ti is 1371 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro Plex 7000 is 1176. The GTX 660 Ti having 195 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the Quadro Plex 7000 performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The GTX 660 Ti transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Quadro Plex 7000. This means that the GTX 660 Ti is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Quadro Plex 7000.

The Quadro Plex 7000 requires 600 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GTX 660 Ti. We would recommend a PSU with at least 900 Watts for the Quadro Plex 7000, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the GTX 660 Ti.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 660 Ti MSI OC v1 Edition is a special edition of GeForce GTX 660 Ti.
The new features include overclocking out of the box, whereas the base-clock was increased from 915MHz to 941MHz and the boost clock can now reach 1020MHz, instead of 980MHz. The memory clock was left untouched.
The overclocking is not very significant and benchmarks indicate the performance is about 1.5% better when compared to the standard edition.
Quadro Plex 7000 is an enthusiast professional card based on the 40nm, Fermi architecture.

It's based on 2 Fermi GF100 GPUs and thus offers 1024 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 96 ROPs, on a 768-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit runs at 574MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 750MHz. It has a L2 Cache of 1536KB and a rated board TDP of 600 Watts.

Despite exhibiting similarities to GeForce GTX 590, due to being under-clocked and because Quadro Plex 7000's drivers are only certified for professional applications only, its gaming performance is up to 10% slower than GeForce GTX 590.
