In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Intel GMA 900 are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce 8200M G.

The GeForce 8200M G was released over three years more recently than the GMA 900, and so the GeForce 8200M G is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GMA 900 when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.

The GMA 900 and the GeForce 8200M G have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The memory bandwidth of the GMA 900 and the GeForce 8200M G are the same, which means the GMA 900 and the GeForce 8200M G have equal limitations when it comes to graphical data transfer.

The GMA 900 has 4 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 8200M G has 8. However, the actual shader performance of the GMA 900 is 1 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 8200M G is 3. The GeForce 8200M G having 2 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GMA 900 performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewIntel GMA 900 was the first graphics solution of the GMA family. It features 4 Pixel Shaders and the central clock runs at 333MHz.
The memory type, speed and frame buffer size will depend on the chipset it's embedded but overall the performance is so horrible, even old games from before 2004, have troubles running.
GeForce 8400M GT is an on-board GPU part of the 8000M Series released by NVIDIA, in 2007.
Only less demanding games can be played smoothly.
