In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce 710M are marginally better than the AMD FirePro M5800 1GB DDR3.

The GeForce 710M was released over a year more recently than the M5800 1GB, and so the GeForce 710M is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the M5800 1GB.

The GeForce 710M and the FirePro M5800 1GB DDR3 have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The M5800 1GB has 36.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce 710M, which means that the memory performance of the M5800 1GB is noticeably better than the GeForce 710M.

The GeForce 710M has 96 Shader Processing Units and the FirePro M5800 1GB DDR3 has 400. However, the actual shader performance of the GeForce 710M is 149 and the actual shader performance of the M5800 1GB is 169. The M5800 1GB having 20 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the M5800 1GB delivers a slightly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce 710M.

The GeForce 710M requires 15 Watts to run but there is no entry for the FirePro M5800 1GB DDR3.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce 710M is a entry-level Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Fermi Architecture.

Architecture
The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm Technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature.
Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GF117-N14M-GL which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 775MHz. Additionally, GF117 is built using a 28nm technology.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 64-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Optimus, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 15W, it is suited for small laptops.

Performance
GeForce GT 710M is essentially a fast GeForce GT 620M.
Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is slightly below the older GeForce GT 540M.

System Suggestions
We recommend a modest processor (Intel Core i3 Mobile) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce 710M.
Professionals in the CAD (Computer Aided Design) and DCC (Digital Content Creation) industries need to be agile while being highly productive both in their office and on-the-go. AMD works with notebook vendors to provide workstation solutions to deliver advanced performance for applications across all industry segments. AMD FirePro™ professional graphics are compliant with the latest industry standards. Plus, AMD Catalyst™ professional graphics drivers are especially tuned to enable outstanding performance for many major CAD and DCC applications.
