In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 6770M 2GB are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce 710M.

The GeForce 710M has a 50 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 6770M, but the HD 6770M has 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the GeForce 710M. As a result, the HD 6770M exhibits a 5 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GeForce 710M. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GeForce 710M has a 50 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 6770M and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GeForce 710M providing 0.4 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GeForce 710M was released over a year more recently than the HD 6770M, and so the GeForce 710M is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the HD 6770M.

The HD 6770M has 1024 MB more video memory than the GeForce 710M, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the HD 6770M also has superior memory performance overall.

The HD 6770M has 36.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce 710M, which means that the memory performance of the HD 6770M is noticeably better than the GeForce 710M.

The GeForce 710M has 96 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 6770M 2GB has 480. However, the actual shader performance of the GeForce 710M is 149 and the actual shader performance of the HD 6770M is 174. The HD 6770M having 25 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD 6770M delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce 710M.

The GeForce 710M transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 6770M. This means that the GeForce 710M is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 6770M.

The GeForce 710M requires 15 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 6770M 2GB requires 35 Watts. The HD 6770M requires 20 Watts more than the GeForce 710M to run. The difference is not significant enough for the HD 6770M to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GeForce 710M.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce 710M is a entry-level Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Fermi Architecture.

Architecture
The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm Technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature.
Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GF117-N14M-GL which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 775MHz. Additionally, GF117 is built using a 28nm technology.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 64-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Optimus, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 15W, it is suited for small laptops.

Performance
GeForce GT 710M is essentially a fast GeForce GT 620M.
Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is slightly below the older GeForce GT 540M.

System Suggestions
We recommend a modest processor (Intel Core i3 Mobile) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce 710M.
Radeon HD 6770M 2GB is a variant of fast-middle-class Radeon HD 6770M that features a 2GB frame buffer. Check its page to know more about its performance.
This GPU does not benefit from a 2GB frame buffer and so its performance is exactly like the 1GB version.
