In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Zotac AMP Edition are massively better than the AMD Radeon HD 4730 PowerColor PCS Edition.

The GTX 660 has a 346 MHz higher core clock speed and 48 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 4730. This results in the GTX 660 providing 61.3 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 660 has a 346 MHz higher core clock speed and 16 more Render Output Units than the HD 4730. This results in the GTX 660 providing 19.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 660 was released over a year more recently than the HD 4730, and so the GTX 660 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the HD 4730.

The GTX 660 has 1536 MB more video memory than the HD 4730, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 660 also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 660 has 101 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 4730, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 660 is massively better than the HD 4730.

The Radeon HD 4730 PowerColor PCS Edition has 640 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 660 Zotac AMP Edition has 960. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 4730 is 291 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 660 is 1067. The GTX 660 having 776 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 660 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 4730.

The GTX 660 transistor size technology is 27 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 4730. This means that the GTX 660 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 4730.

We would recommend a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the HD 4730.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 4730 PowerColor PCS Edition is a special edition of Radeon HD 4730 that features a new cooling system and no overclocking out of the box.
In the end, the performance is worse than the Radeon HD 4730 as there are two variants of this card whereas one has a core-clock of 700MHz and another of 750MHz and the one we currently offers is the latter.
GeForce GTX 660 Zotac AMP Edition a special edition of GeForce GTX 660.
The new features include a new cooling system and in terms of overclocking, the base-clock was increased from 980MHz to 1046MHz and the boost clock can now reach 1111MHz, instead of 1033MHz. The memory clock was raised to 1652MHz.
Benchmarks indicate a 5.5% performance when compared to the reference card.
