In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Zotac AMP Edition are massively better than the AMD Radeon HD 4670 Asus 512MB Edition.

The GTX 660 has a 296 MHz higher core clock speed and 48 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 4670. This results in the GTX 660 providing 59.7 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 660 has a 296 MHz higher core clock speed and 16 more Render Output Units than the HD 4670. This results in the GTX 660 providing 19.1 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 660 was released over three years more recently than the HD 4670, and so the GTX 660 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the HD 4670 when running the latest games.

The GTX 660 has 1536 MB more video memory than the HD 4670, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 660 also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 660 has 126.5 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 4670, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 660 is massively better than the HD 4670.

The GeForce GTX 660 Zotac AMP Edition has 960 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 4670 Asus 512MB Edition has 320. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 660 is 1067 and the actual shader performance of the HD 4670 is 168. The GTX 660 having 899 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 660 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 4670.

The GTX 660 transistor size technology is 27 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 4670. This means that the GTX 660 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 4670.

The Radeon HD 4670 Asus 512MB Edition requires 59 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GTX 660. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the HD 4670, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the GTX 660.
