In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 7660D are marginally better than the AMD Radeon HD 3850 AGP.

The Radeon HD 7660D was released over three years more recently than the HD 3850, and so the Radeon HD 7660D is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the HD 3850 when running the latest games.

The HD 3850 has 512 MB video memory, but the Radeon HD 7660D does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The Radeon HD 7660D has 380 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 3850 AGP has 320. However, the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD 7660D is 198 and the actual shader performance of the HD 3850 is 214. The HD 3850 having 16 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD 3850 delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Radeon HD 7660D.

The Radeon HD 3850 AGP requires 75 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon HD 7660D. We would recommend a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the HD 3850, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the Radeon HD 7660D.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 7660D is an embedded GPU on the high-end Trinity CPUs A10-5700 and A10-5800K.
Since the GPU doesn't have dedicated memory, the bandwidth will depend on the system ram speed which can be up to 1866MHz (the max speed supported by the CPU). Therefore, the max memory speed is 933MHz.
Its core-clock is clocked at 760MHz, if embedded on A10-5700 and 800MHz, if embedded on A10-5800K, and comes with 384 Shader Processing Units.
Radeon 7660D's performance depends a lot on driver support and embedded CPU and varies from game to game in a way games in the same category (demanding, very demanding, etc) can be unplayable at the lowest settings or might run at medium/high settings.
Please note this GPU's rank is a weighted average between the two available versions.
Radeon HD 3850 AGP is a variant of the high-end Radeon HD 3850 based on the 55nm, second unified shader architecture, R600. Check its page to know more about its Core.
Compared to Radeon HD 3850, it features twice as much video memory and an AGP 8X Bus Interface. Benchmarks indicate the double sized frame buffer benefits this GPU largely and so its performance is up to 8% better than the reference Radeon HD 3850.
Today's modern games should run fluently at medium settings but with modest resolutions. DirectX 11 games aren't supported.
