In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD FirePro V7800 are marginally better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition.

The GTX 550 Ti was released over a year more recently than the FirePro V7800, and so the GTX 550 Ti is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the FirePro V7800.

The FirePro V7800 has 1024 MB more video memory than the GTX 550 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the FirePro V7800 also has superior memory performance overall.

The FirePro V7800 has 29.6 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 550 Ti, which means that the memory performance of the FirePro V7800 is slightly better than the GTX 550 Ti.

The GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition has 192 Shader Processing Units and the FirePro V7800 has 1440. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 550 Ti is 372 and the actual shader performance of the FirePro V7800 is 655. The FirePro V7800 having 283 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GTX 550 Ti performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The FirePro V7800 requires 138 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GTX 550 Ti. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 550 Ti.
