In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 620.

The GTX 550 Ti has a 270 MHz higher core clock speed and 16 more Texture Mapping Units than the GeForce GT 620. This results in the GTX 550 Ti providing 19.8 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 550 Ti has a 270 MHz higher core clock speed and 20 more Render Output Units than the GeForce GT 620. This results in the GTX 550 Ti providing 20.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GeForce GT 620 was released less than a year after the GTX 550 Ti, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition and the GeForce GT 620 have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The GTX 550 Ti has 84 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce GT 620, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 550 Ti is much better than the GeForce GT 620.

The GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition has 192 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GT 620 has 96. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 550 Ti is 372 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GT 620 is 134. The GTX 550 Ti having 238 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 550 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce GT 620.

The GeForce GT 620 requires 49 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GTX 550 Ti. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 550 Ti and a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GeForce GT 620. The GTX 550 Ti has been recommended a PSU with 100 Watts more than the GeForce GT 620. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 550 Ti may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GeForce GT 620.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition is a special edition of the upper-middle-class GeForce GTX 550 Ti. See the standard edition's page for more information.
The new features include an increase in the clock from 900MHz to 970MHz and a new cooling system.
Benchmarks indicate a 4.5% performance boost when compared to the reference card..
Some modern demanding games will run at the highest settings using a 1080p resolution but the largest part will have to be played with a 720p resolution to be played optimally.
This Graphics Card needs to be paired with a decent Quad Core CPU.
Overview
GeForce GT 620 is an Entry-Level Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Fermi Architecture.

Architecture
The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature.
Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Fermi GF108-100-KB-A1 which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 700MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 500MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling Solution consists of a Single-Fan.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 49W, it requires at least a 300W PSU and it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance is somewhat better than Radeon HD 7470.

System Suggestions
We recommend a modest processor (Intel Celeron) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 620.
