In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 550M 2GB are significantly better than the AMD Radeon HD 7520G.
The Radeon HD 7520G was released over a year more recently than the GT 550M, and so the Radeon HD 7520G is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GT 550M.
The GT 550M has 2048 MB video memory, but the Radeon HD 7520G does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.
The Radeon HD 7520G has 192 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GT 550M 2GB has 96. However, the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD 7520G is 95 and the actual shader performance of the GT 550M is 142. The GT 550M having 47 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GT 550M delivers a slightly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Radeon HD 7520G.
The Radeon HD 7520G requires 35 Watts to run and the GeForce GT 550M 2GB requires 35 Watts. The two GPUs require the same amount of wattage to run. As such, there is no need to worry about which will more significantly affect your yearly electricity bills.

Mini Review | Radeon HD 7520G is an integrated GPU on the middle-class Trinity CPUs. It's based on the 32nm Terascale 3 architecture and offers 192 Shader Processing Units, 12 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The memory interface will depend on whether or not the laptop's system RAM is dual channelled (128-bit if so, 64-bit, if not) and the operating memory clock can be up to 800MHz (max speed supported by the CPU). The central unit runs at 496MHz and will go up to 685MHz in Turbo Mode. Expect a TDP of up to 35 Watt. Its performance is below both Intel HD 4000 Graphics and previous in series - Radeon HD 7500G, despite the naming, due to the lesser Shaders count which proves useful in most of today's modern games. Most of today's modern games will have to be played at the lowest settings, while extremely demanding games (e.g. Crysis 3) are most likely unplayable. | Overview GeForce GT 550M 2GB is a middle-class Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Fermi Architecture. Architecture The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature. Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed GF108 which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 740MHz. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz. Features DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Optimus, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 35W, it is suited for 15" or larger laptops. Performance Gaming benchmarks put its performance only slightly above a desktop GeForce GT 430. System Suggestions We recommend a modest processor (Intel Core i3 Mobile) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 550M 2GB. |
