The game was released in North America on November 8, 2005, and in mid to late November in Europe. Since October 13, 2006, the game has also been available to buy on Valve's content delivery platform, Steam. It was released for the PlayStation Portable under the title Gun: Showdown on October 10, 2006. It features new side-missions, a multiplayer mode, and other additions that weren't available in the console versions.
In its first month, the game sold 225,000 units across the four systems it was initially released for. According to TRST sales data, the game has sold over 1.4 million units in the US (as of October 2008). It was well received by professional game reviewers and Activision noted that Gun sold the best among new video game properties. The game won Gamespy's "Xbox 360 Action Game Of The Year" award.
Gun GPU Frames Per Second Chart

Our objective is to build an accurate Gun frame rate chart that lets PC gamers select from any Nvidia or AMD graphics card series. In this beta feature we provide Gun FPS data, displayed based on a default screen resolution of 1080p.

Premium members can adjust the charts game graphics settings and select multiple graphics card series for frame rate comparison. For example, if you want to quickly compare frame rates for Gun between AMD Radeon RX-500 Series versus FPS for Nvidia’s GeForce 20 Series, then you can see those results displayed below.

Gun User Submitted Frame Per Second Results

Our next development is focused on incorporating our bespoke machine learning code that continues to enhance these Gun frames per second results as more and more of you (PC gamers) submit your own frame rates. Submitted frame rates will automatically be processed, removing anomalies and building increasingly reliable game FPS from all the good data until the performance graph above is pinpoint accurate. The more benchmarks you submit, the more confident we can be in the FPS prediction data across all games and hardware.
