Dropping the player into the Western Mediterranean during the outbreak of the 2nd Punic War, Hannibal at the Gates focuses of one of history's most feared leaders, Hannibal.
A new campaign map is included in Hannibal at the Gates, as well as new units, scenarios and a multiplayer campaign. Focused on a time period covering events between 218 and 202BC, turn times are much shorter than in the main game, with twelve turns being taking every year, including seasonal transitions.
