If you are asking yourself, what hardware components should I buy for my next PC so it can run Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order then that is exactly what we will be doing in this review. Our challenge is in choosing the right priced PC items to get together an optimum build, which can meet the needs of Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order. With the PC build brief being to maintain a stable and reliable FPS with top tier graphics options selected, delivered via a 1080p screen resolution. These prices are are checked multiple times each day and we update the build if other hardware is better value for money, while still meeting our gaming hardware standards.
First off, to help us pull together the best hardware for this build, we have to understand a little bit about the type of game we are creating this computer for. Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order is a title which sits in the Shooter, Online genre categories, which may influence our peripheral selection a bit, to help accommodate some of the particular requirements there. This game would have also been built on PC hardware during 2019 and before, which can suggest the sort of specced components a developer might have been using and hoping for their game to run on. Today we find it is 27 on our most demanding games list and 15 in our list of popular games. While this extra info gives a good sense of what we want from our PC, nothing really replaces our value for money assessment based on live prices, when putting together this build.

Our key objective when putting together our next gaming PC is always going to be finding a great price point for the most performance we can. Today’s build we start by looking for the right graphics card, at the right price, that can run Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order at 1080p ultra graphics. Looking through todays available cards and comparing their hardware performance has lead us to cherry pick the Radeon RX 5700 XT MSI 8GB today for this game. It is capable of returning strong frame rates at our desired ultra 1080p. Checking our records our lowest tracked price for this card was on 9th Jan 2020, which had it priced at $366.42. Todays price is $383.08 which is why we have identified it as a competitive performance to price ratio compared to other hardware in the marketplace today. Exploring the price trends for this card shows us it has increased its price by $16.66 over the past two weeks, so perhaps there is still deals that can be found on this card.
We also want the graphics card to have at least 8GB VRAM onboard. The video card in this build has 8 which will act as a good data buffer between the processor and the graphics hardware.
Finding a cpu is largely dependent on the right motherboard. The CPU we are going to choose has the Socket AM4 socket type. So we have found the best priced and well featured mobo in the GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4. The Ryzen 5 2600X 6-Core 3.6GHz processor will then fit in and accompany our Radeon RX 5700 XT MSI 8GB selection nicely, with the cpu being at a great price point, costing $136.89. Giving us a bit more of an insight we saw this processor being sold for a low price of $119.99, which was on 28th Nov 2019.
And with the motherboard costing $54.99 this really helps pull the PC we are building together. This motherboard was priced at $54.99, which we saw on 29th Nov 2019. While monitoring prices this is the lowest we have seen it at.
As one of the 3 main system components, when considering a PC built for Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order, the correct RAM selection is obviously important. We are looking for something that is well priced but also capable of meeting the games requirements. The OLOy 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 2400MHz is well priced at $49.99 and fits with the Ryzen 5 2600X 6-Core 3.6GHz and Radeon RX 5700 XT MSI 8GB selections to ensure solid FPS at 1080p ultra settings. Lowest RAM prices were recorded for this OLOy 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 2400MHz when we saw it priced at $47.89, on 7th Jan 2020.
With our key performance components in place we are expecting to see this setup running Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order at around 61 average frames per second, on 1080p screen resolution. This should be achieved on ultra graphics settings. If you turn a few graphics options down we expect around 85 FPS at high graphics.
If this 1080p build was to run Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order at 1440p Ultra, by increasing its screen size, then the FPS it would return on High would be around an average of 65 FPS. At Ultra we expect the average to be 47.
We should check some other games performance with our Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order PC. Looking at some other popular games today, to see how the Radeon RX 5700 XT MSI 8GB and this setup will run on 1080p. Fortnite: Chapter 2 is expected to return 176 FPS when run on Ultra which increases to around 200+ frames per second on High. Microsoft Flight Simulator would return 61 FPS on Ultra and then go up to 85 FPS at High settings. With Cyberpunk 2077 we expect 60 FPS running at Ultra settings and 83 frames on High settings.
If you are wanting a graphics choice from the other team then our suggestion would be the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Asus Dual Advanced 8GB video card, currently priced at $379.99. This option has a performance of 3% worse when compared to the Radeon RX 5700 XT MSI 8GB and completely capable of offering a good gpu alternative.
