Prices and hardware reviewed and updated: 29th Mar 2020

If you are wanting to buy a gaming computer to run Overwatch then this PC build review is aimed at putting together the correct hardware components for the cheapest price today to do just that. We will therefore be aiming to run this game confidently each time at top end graphics settings, delivered via a 1080p screen resolution. We will keep checking the prices every day, so that our hardware selections on this page are at the best price point and we will swap in and out whenever something else appears better value today.

This title falls in the Shooter, Action, Online genre category, which itself can influence the type of hardware we might consider for this build. Something we sometimes dont consider is that the game would be developed in 2016 and therefore on hardware from around that period of time. We can also assume that hardware from around that period would be part of the targeted hardware, in terms of performance, by the developers, as they provide graphical options for the hardware capabilities available. It is currently not on our list of most demanding games. Also it is falling outside of our most popular games list at the moment. With this info in hand to help guide our hardware build choices we will now select today’s best priced components that meet these game characteristics.

Choosing A Graphics Card For Our 1080p Overwatch PC Build

Lets not pay over the odds when we put this game’s graphics card in. We want something that can play Overwatch at 1080p ultra graphics options and we want something that has a reasonable price compared to the other graphics options. The Radeon RX 550X 4GB has been looking like a good stand in for this games curated PC build, based on the price of $99.88 that we found it marked at today. It will certainly help return suitable FPS, which we will go into a bit later in the article, at ultra 1080p. Looking a little deeper at this cards pricing history shows this card has increased its price by $99.88 over the past two weeks.

This build will need to have at least 2GB of VRAM onboard the graphics card, to act as an image data store between the GPU and CPU. Our selected builds graphics card has 4GB, which is plenty for getting suitable gaming at this resolution.

Selecting The Right Overwatch 1080p Motherboard and CPU

The backbone of a pc build is the motherboard. Todays best price mobo, that gives us the Socket AM4 socket type is the GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4. From here we can then put in to this game’s bespoke PC build the Ryzen 5 2600 processor, which works very well in achieving the desired performance levels at a good price point. Todays price for this computer processor is $124.99. Our cheapest price recorded for the Ryzen 5 2600 was $114.97, which we spotted on 10th Feb 2020.

With the feature rich GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4 priced competitively at $54.99 it is certainly in todays Overwatch build for a good reason. To provide a motherboard pricing benchmark the lowest recorded price we have for the GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4 is $54.99 on 29th Nov 2019.

How To Choose The Best RAM For Overwatch At The Right Price

With our key performance components in place we are expecting to see this setup running Overwatch at around 56 average frames per second, on 1080p screen resolution. Selecting A High Performance Mouse For Overwatch

We have chosen a great valued but higher performing mouse today with the Razer DeathAdder Elite gaming mouse. We felt a better performance mouse would better suit Overwatch because it falls into the Shooter, Action, Online genre groupings and would benefit from the extra mouse quality the Razer DeathAdder Elite delivers.

Overwatch Benefits From a High Quality Audio Headset

And now on to the game’s audio output. In this build we are looking for higher performing headsets to better match the needs of this type of game. The Tritton ARK Elite 7.1 is today’s best priced gaming headset that meets our requirements, while still providing clear audio. If you wish to see some other curated headsets that are providing good value today then check our headset list button above for some other selections.

An Alternative Overwatch Graphics Card Option for 1080p

If you are looking for a graphics card from Nvidia instead of the one we have selected in this build then you could try GeForce GTX 1660 Super PNY Single Fan 6GB, which has a 117% better performance difference, so still similar capabilities. We have chosen it based on its price-performance figure as well, as it is currently priced at $229.99.
